IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Treatments

Dr. Javier Pérez talks to us about IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments.

Premium Clinic has upgraded its IPL equipment with a state-of-the-art machine, allowing for more precise and comprehensive treatments for all its patients. IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a laser-like technology. Instead of a single wavelength of light like a laser, IPL uses a bright beam of light, in front of which filters are placed. These filters block most wavelengths except those absorbed by pigment and blood vessels, depending on the filter used. The light energy penetrates just below the skin's surface, affecting melanin (skin pigment) or blood vessels. The body's natural skin repair mechanisms then remove the pigment or blocked vessels, resulting in smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin. It typically takes 3-6 treatments to see significant results, and treatments can be spaced 3-4 weeks apart. IPL is good for pigment (age spots on the face and hands, freckles, pigmented spots, lentigines or melasma) and small blood vessels (such as telangiectasias, rosacea, redness.)

It also allows for gentle photorejuvenation parameters, with minimal post-treatment effects. The advantage of IPL systems is that downtime is usually minimal.
