THE MOST RECOMMENDED AESTHETIC TREATMENTS TO HAVE DONE IN WINTER

Why is winter the best time for cosmetic treatments?

In winter, low temperatures help the skin recover better from any treatment or procedure. Conversely, high temperatures cause the skin to sweat more and become more flaccid; this is the main reason why it's always best to wait for the cooler months, so the skin is prepared for any treatment and its subsequent recovery. Furthermore, to protect ourselves from the cold, we usually wear clothing that covers our entire body, which helps protect us from direct sunlight and the marks it can leave during the healing process.

In addition to recovery time, certain cosmetic procedures can cause temporary swelling or bruising, which is always easier to conceal in winter when the skin is more covered. In contrast, during the warmer months when we wear lighter clothing, these bruises can be more visible. Generally, high temperatures complicate the postoperative process of any cosmetic procedure or medical-aesthetic treatment, partly due to inflammation. Heat causes sweating, which can lead to infection of the scars if proper care is not taken.

Recommended dermo-aesthetic treatments in winter

  • Chemical peel: It involves the controlled application of substances that remove superficial layers of the skin, promoting its regeneration. It improves wrinkles, scars, acne marks, and blemishes.
  • Fractional lasers: like the CO2 Laser, indicated for treating acne scars, deep wrinkles and nevi.
  • Treatments for blemishes: like the Q-Switch Laser and the IPL, effective in improving skin pigmentation.

It is not advisable to undergo these treatments during the spring and summer months, as the heat and sun exposure can contribute to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is the appearance of spots in areas where the skin has undergone a repair process.
